My Passion For Writing

"Writing has always been my true passion, and it all began in school when. In college, I took this passion to the next level by launching a magazine with a group. So, welcome to my personal blog! I hope you enjoy reading my posts as much as I enjoy writing them!"

An Oleh Hadash's Log-book

Who just arrived in Israel

After 6 months living in Israel, I can tell you now as an Israeli Citizen (not a tourist), how it is living in Israel. Whenever I can (and want to), I will write here in my Log-book (not every day) my impressions of Eretz Israel, a place I chose and love, my home.

 – Some curiosities about Israel: One thing you can be sure of, in Israel you will never be alone… there will always be a cat watching you! Here in Israel there are many, many, many cats. You literally trip over them. It even seems that the cat is sacred here. I think they brought this concept from Ancient Egypt when Moses ran out of there, cutting the sea in half and “wandering” in the desert for 40 years (It’s the reason why Waze was created here). They are alley cats, but everyone takes care of them. They receive water and food from people who live nearby. I’ve even seen some people feed the cats with salmon. Meow! I really don’t know if they eat rats. I wouldn’t eat them!

Another thing that we have a lot here in Israel: Smokers. When I go to a cafe, I always ask to sit inside, because outside there’s a cloud of smoke hovering over the tables. Everyone smokes here! Even the cats!!! Really. Everyone smokes. People who say they don’t smoke, smoke. It’s just that they smoke less.

We also have a lot of soldiers (and female soldiers) around here. I once took a train on the eve of a holiday and there were more soldiers than civilians on the train. Some carrying their rifles and machine guns. Helpful Hint: Don’t try to invade Israel!

Another thing that we have a lot of here is Hummus (chickpea paste). There’s a movie by Adam Sandler (Zohan), where he plays an Israeli and brushes his teeth with hummus. That’s a lie! Israelis don’t brush their teeth with hummus… they shower with hummus! It’s Hummus everywhere! Like the movie The Stuff from the 80s. Every accompaniment in a restaurant here must have it. You know what, it is really shocking when you realize you’re buying it for breakfast. While the alley cat eats salmon …
